Lol I just realised I have no idea where all the water hoses need to go! :D Well I can figure out the big ones, but then it becomes a puzzle; I'll give Ed a call one of these days!

Did some work on the door struts this weekend. Getting of the rear wing was the biggest job. After that I could easily spot the problem: The weld that attaches the nut to the bracket came loose. Not only that: the old tiny bracket was bent quite badly. For reference, i've added a picture from the new bracket from DMC Europe.

If the fibre glass isn't that great, extend the bracket by welding an extra plate on with more holes towards the inside of the car.
I did mine and it takes away the worry of it needing to be done again TT

Thank god my fibre is fine. You may have noticed the extra holes on the new plates. These are for the rivets on either side of the mounting bolts, but I dont have a rivet gun (yet)..

Last weekend I replaced both door strut brackets as posted above. Took me a little while to get all the old sealant out of the way but all in all replacing the brackets was easier than I thought. All is resealed again now, mighty happy I did em. Now they're good to go for at least another 30 years (i hope :D).

i bought some of them new convex mirrors of Ed's, and they are really nice! Pics to follow soon (i hope).

Sorry I still haven't managed to get some decent pics of the mirrors, but i'd like to tell you about a new mod I did.

Windscreen washers!!

Triggered by a post from Farrar at dmctalkI went out to buy 2 nozzles, some hose and a t-splitter at a local VW beetle shop. This replaces the awkward hose-to-the-wiper construction. Total cost €12,-.

30 minutes later all was installed only to find out that my battery is now flat by the constant testing and adjusting of the spray pattern. Its not perfect yet, but i am at 95% now.

VOD doesn't look that bad at all. And the water hoses at the back of the waterpump look clean and decent. I feel quite good about that.

Time for some soup.
