Alpine Europa Cup style radiator.

Postby Chris_DeLorean » Mon May 16, 2011 2:37 pm

Dear all,

As a little introduction: I'm Christophe, a French DeLorean owner (VIN#04271) and I help a French company to develop some parts for DeLoreans, sales are made directly by the company.

I hope I posted in the appropriate section, if not, admins know what to do...

Just to explain the plan:
We decided to start with a new radiator because we wanted to put all chances on our side to bring this project to its end and we believed that it's a safe bet.
The main goal was to get a radiator, like the one used in the race car Alpine Europa Cup, that could be easily installed on DeLorean with stock A/C, fan shroud and air duct.

We succeed in creating such big size radiator (52mm thick core), I installed it and test it in my car without any issue, the radiator fits perfectly without hitting fiberglass.
I did not test it stucked in a traffic jam under an heavy sun but I'm confident, it will handle that situation...
So now the time to produce it in serie arrives and I try to spread the information because that radiator will be sent free of shipping charge in all European countries and the price is nice (see details below).

Another point why I try to do my best to "sell" that project is that in case of success, other interesting parts could be produced too (any parts that owners would want to be realized as long as more than 10 people are interested, all suggestions are welcome). I hope you'll be interested in such projects. :)

Here is a little story:

And here are some photos after having installed it (done as a breeze).

And here are the final details:
Prices: Prices are shipping included for all European countries.
A surcharge will be applied to people living in other countries, USA, Canada, etc...
For a pre order of 15 radiators : 250€ (About 218 GBP).
For a pre order of 10 radiators : 275€ (About 240 GBP).

Warranty: One year, usually a direct replacement by a new radiator.

Deadline for the confirmation of the pre order: about the 31st of May.
Just to try to get the first batch ready to ship for summer. :)

Advance for the pre order: half ot the price.
Concerning this point, I will post here the details shortly.

Feel free to contact me here or by pm for any question you may have. :)

Thanks for having took the time to read me. ;)

Best regards,

Chris.

I think what he's saying is that if 10 people commit then it will be £240, if 15 commit then £218 each?

I like the look of those fans too!

Looks great !!

Assuming this fits in the existing oem radiator duct (from the grille) ?

Also any problems with the fit including the condensor on the front of i ?

See if we can get exclusive rights through us, then flog em! I think they look nice and probably built better than an oem rad, judging by the rest of the car. And their ain't alot of difference in the price, give or take 20 quid. I wonder how many oem rads Houston are sitting on, unless they've started building there own, if he has I hope they are better than his ball joints!!!

Where's a badger when you need one :D

If we can sort out a bulk buy 'with' those fans, at additional cost obviously, count me in.

Thanks for all comments. :)

It fits with A/C condenser, original fan shroud and original air duct without any problems. I did install it as a block (fans + radiator + condenser).
It took me more time to empty the coolant than to install the "block". I worried a little about air duct installation when I saw the radiator for the very first time but it was installed within less than 5 minutes.
Concerning fans, I just put those because I did not finished to refurbish original ones but as soon as they are ready, I'lll reinstall them (If I did not go to SPAL before ).

I know that Frenchies are wellknown for their high language skills but I don't know how to understood it and who do you want to flog ?

I hope too  but I'm very confident in this one, I put some kilometers on my car with that radiator and absolutely no leaks.

It's possible but it won't be those fans you could found on ebay for $10 rated at 10.000CFM at 2 Amps so it could be costly.
Having a good radiator is important but having very good fans is far better. ;)
I'll try to come back asap with a quote for a package radiator + SPAL fans and ad'hoc fan shroud. :)

Not wrong. ;)
But the probe must be as close as possible to the engine, on the pump output to the radiator (or in the pump itself).

On my car, I did replace the OEM switch by a modern one.
