Update on this ancient old thread but may be of interest... Today I was down at Santa Pod and managed to get two runs in the DeLorean. One run had a passenger (16.46, 84.11mph) but one run was solo and thus comparable to previous runs (and previous specs). These previous runs are the best of a selection on the days, whereas this was just a sample of one but worth comparing anyway:
Here are the previous:
Gez 2011 (full Volvo, reprofiled cams but knackered rockers and massive tappet slap):
Reaction 2.49
60ft 2.30
330ft 6.77
1/8 ET 10.51
1/8 MPH 64.99
1000' ET 13.78
1000' MPH 74.78
1/4 ET 16.54
1/4 MPH 81.25Dan 2010 (Volvo fuelling/ignition on DeLorean block - rolling road at 155bhp?):
Reaction 0.33
60ft 2.37
330ft 6.72
1/8 ET 10.37
1/8 MPH 66.23
1000' ET 13.56
1000' MPH 76.29
1/4 ET 16.26
1/4 MPH 83.03Gez 2015 (Full/stock Volvo):
Reaction 0.64
60ft 2.35
330ft 6.73
1/8 ET 10.37
1/8 MPH 67.12
1000' ET 13.53
1000' MPH 77.34
1/4 ET 16.19
1/4 MPH 84.58Conclusion: The start on the run today wasn't great (see inferior 60ft time to 2011, also 330ft time to 2010) but the full Volvo set up does seem to give more power so that it overhauls the previous quickest times and gives a higher top speed at the end of the 1/4 mile. Given another few runs I'd have been confident of getting under 16.10 and maybe even nudging 16 flat.
Had I ever got the car down to the strip before the rockers got worn out and whilst the cams were still working I think it would have been on for sub 16.
Meanwhile our American cousins seem to be struggling to get much below 18...
