It would be nice if that was availabe in Excel spreadsheet so that you could sort them by location etc...
I often thought it would be nice to have a map of the UK with ownerslocations (perhaps towns only) that would be great

Fascinating info - amazed there are almost 100 cars in Holland!

Also interesting how the UK has the earliest known existing cars (am I right in thinking this, apart from Prototype 1, it's P19 and P20?), the last ever 81 car (7199) and the last ever 82 car (12199).

I wonder how safe an assumption it is that cars that come into the UK don't tend to leave again? I reckon a few probably head off into Europe but that would easily be countered by new ones coming in from the States that aren't on the VIN list yet...

So here's a geeky calculation that will probably entertain no-one apart from me... There are 150 Ds in the UK out of a total 33,000,000 cars. Lets assume the average mileage of those 33,000,000 cars is 8,000/yr, to account for the fact not all of them are driven regularly (lots of other shit old cars registered out there). Lets also assume that the average D in the UK does 1000 miles/year.

If the average person sees 300 cars a day (this assumption I have pulled out of my arse), then it will take an average of 5,867 days between DeLorean sightings for the average person, or 16 years.

Calculated as... [(33,000,000/150) x 8] / 300

Seems about right I reckon!

Well that's a very detailed analysis ther Gez! I concur with your maths, although I'm not sure I see 300 cars per day. Other than through the club I have only ever seen 2 Deloreans, and that was in Cheltenham in 1999, and Universal Studios in 1990 - so that is dead on the average too!


However, I recon the vin list is slightly innacurate - and certainly is missing details on a great number of cars worldwide. On the DOI forum for example I think they have found another 40 cars not on the list in Ireland. I would guess about 250 in the UK.
