Pricy but in the past I think Dan S did quite well out of taking the engine out then selling the remainder of the Volvo as parts.

They seem to be worth more broken than as a whole.

If you got it for £1200 and could maybe sell £500 of spares then get some scrappage value it might suddenly be worth doing.

That's all very well, but how about the labour charges for stripping the thing down.
I'll be very surprised if anyone buys it, unless an enthusiast snaps it up ????
Keep an eye on it, I'd be willing to offer £300, but no more!!!

James is right I did break my last one down and sell the bits but didn't get anywhere near 500 for the bits... but I only paid about 300 for the whole car to start with.

The seats went for about 70 quid, the axle about 50, dash 20, wheels 20, taillights 30 ish, and a few other odds and bits I can't remember. You won't make a lot out of them as no one really wants the parts! My first 760 I sold the complete shell to someone who collected old volvos but again didn't get a lot for it, about 150 I think, but was easier than spending hours stripping it all down and posting off parts just for a few quid more maybe.

A mate of mine scraps loads of stuff. He leaves the hose pipe running through the window for about 2 hrs, so the whole interior, particularly the seats are soaked, gets more money at the scrappers, cos' of the weight ;)

2 years ago I purchased a complete 262 with 52K purely to have a spare engine and other bits. Have to say its piece of mind knowing you have a good spare engine sitting in the garage...A lot to be said for test driving your engine before taking it out

The engines are getting thin on the ground especially good running ones. I advertised the remaining car on a Volvo classic forum I had 'lots' of interest for parts here & abroad...in the end I sold the rest of the car complete and now have an engine at small cost that's only going to appreciate in value.
The engine is slightly different , lower crankcase / sump/ k jet fuel manifold and some of the plumbing. I had the engine out in 3hrs as its easy to work on unlike the D.

if you can get it for less great ...but you wont lose in a few years these engines will fetch huge money only a matter of 'Time'
