Some information has been passed to me by Greg Maine at Al Qurain in Kuwait.
As I have previously written Greg owned a red painted DeLorean, which was used as a company car...it was stolen during the Iraqi invasion of the country in 1990 and they have never seen the vehicle again. A financial claim was made to the United Nations Compensation Scheme for the value of the car.
The vin number has now been confirmed as SCEDT26T9BD002756, as a document was found recently which recorded the vin.
Eagle-eyed amongst you will notice this VIN falls outside the usual range, further to this its recorded on the Vin list as being in London from poss mid 80's.. even more interesting is that this car was sold in New Jersey originally.
This car was purchased from a customer in Kuwait rather than one of the 25 which were sold there.
I have attached a picture of a Red DeLorean which was crushed in Iraq about ten years ago, this car from looking at it would appear to be in the right range for 2756.
My theory is this.
Sold in New Jersey
Ends up in London
Then shipped to Kuwait (poss oil worker etc)
Traded in to Al Qurain
Stolen and ends up in Iraq
Crushed.
Open to ideas..!
