I was able to get up close to Vin 11761 this weekend, and meet the owner Ken Henderson, indeed Vin 11766 and Vin 11761 were briefly reunited for a few hours at the Ulster Transport Museum.

Its covered only 15,000km and although it had been for sale, Ken doesnt really want to part with it!

He has the service book with a stamp, and is going to send me a copy which I'll upload, will be interesting to see and confirm the dealership where it was sold.

How it came to be back in the UK needs some investigation as it was in a museum in Keighley for a few years, one theory I have is that it was one of the unsold cars at the Kuwaiti dealership (Al -Qurain Automotive ).. at least one of these was shipped back to the UK and sold at auction circa 1983-1984.

This could explain why it has a C plate, if the first UK owner had convinced the DVLA it was a 'NEW' car.

.

I just came across a reference to 11761 being auctioned at Christies on April 25, 1983. No picture, mileage or other interesting/confirming details. Nor where the auction was held.

Said it sold for $13,200, which I think was a conversion at 1983 exchange rates

Nice find Dermot, that ties in with the re-import that the dealer mentioned
